To calculate the depth of deposits approximate density of the process material inside the pipe must be given. No need to remove any insulation of lagging from the pipe. Any sizes of pipe can be scanned using this technique. The pipes at heights must be accessed through permanent platforms or scaffolding. The pipe scanning is performed by placing an adjustable (as per the pipe diameter) yoke shaped assembly around the cross section of the pipe under investigation at a number of locations along the pipe.
