Gamma Scanning
Gamma scanning has become indispensable for process engineers seeking to accurately assess the performance of their process columns. Over time, these crucial components experience changes in performance, necessitating the identification and quantification of issues.
At Petromaster, we offer the solution to this challenge. Leveraging our skilled and certified engineers alongside state-of-the-art gamma scanning equipment and expertise.
Our services in Gamma Scanning
- Tower Scanning
- Grid Scanning
- Pipe Scanning
- CAT Scanning
We serve these industries
- Cement
- Refinery
- Fertilizer
- Petrochemicals
- Oil & Gas Plants
- Power Generation
Our detailed gamma scanning reports serve as invaluable tools for optimizing overall process performance. By pinpointing areas of concern, they enable targeted improvements, saving you from hours of exhaustive trending and troubleshooting.
Petromaster's non-invasive Gamma Scan technique is used to evaluate trayed columns for hydraulic performance and mechanical integrity. This critical knowledge is needed to optimize production and minimize plant downtime.
Immediate results delivered on site allow our customers to implement the appropriate solutions to increase production, reduce shut down time and lower their operating costs.
We specialize in providing these services within Tower Scanning.
- Verify tray placement any damage.
- Determine froth height and levels.
- Locate flooding and foaming.
- Diagnose entrainment and weeping
- Detect process related problems
Petromaster grid scan is one of the most cost effective ways to identify maldistribution in packed towers. Using a geometric pattern of scan orientations the density profiles will overlay with an even flow distribution. If variations are detected between the scans, then deviations are present in the liquid or vapor flow pattern within the packing.
Within grid scanning, we provide these services.
- Verify the position of packed beds
- Evaluate the distribution of liquid and vapor.
- Confirm distributors and collector trays
- Detect crushed and fouled packing
- Locate foaming and flooding
Deposits and blockages inside your process piping can be difficult and costly to locate. ScanTech personnel use portable equipment to quickly and accurately determine the location of deposits in above ground piping. Our technique is non- invasive and can be used on almost any piping contents.
In Pipe Scanning, we offer these services.
- Position and extent of solids buildup
- Hydrate location within gas lines
- Access liquid carryover in separators
- Monitor liquid/ gas interface in pipeline purge
- Measure the extent and duration of slugging
- Locate lost refractory or lining.
- Determine deposit cross sectional profiles.
Pipe Scanning Technology
Pipe Scanning technology is a well-established technique to locate and check the depth of deposits or sediment buildup in the pipes. To calculate the depth of deposits approximate density of the process material inside the pipe must be given. No need to remove any insulation lagging from the pipe. Any size of pipe can be scanned using this technique.
The pipes at heights must be accessed through permanent platforms or scaffolding. The pipe scanning is performed by placing an adjustable (as per the pipe diameter) yoke shaped assembly around the cross section of the pipe under investigation at a number of locations along the pipe.
This Yoke is constructed to keep the source and detector at a fixed orientation and two readings horizontal (3-9 O’clock position) and vertical ( 6-12 O’ clock position) are recorded as shown in the Figure.
Remote Visual Inspection
Petromaster provides Remote Visual Inspection services using a variety of Robotic cameras and Boroscopic equipment available in its fleet. Equipment that can be inspected varies starting from small-diameter tubes up to big-diameter pipes and vessels. Our RVI/ROV team has extensive experience in identifying integrity-related issues using Robotic cameras in different types of objects including piping, vessels, and tanks made of different types of materials like steel, FRP/GRP and other composite materials, concrete, and others.
Reformer Tubes Remaining Life Assessment
Petromaster provides Condition & Remaining Life Assessment of Reformer Radiant tubes in collaboration with HIS group INC. which uses a combination of multiple NDT Techniques to provide a comprehensive assessment of current tube condition. When deployed with its sophisticated remaining life assessment WinTUBE™ software, It can predict the remaining life of each tube in a furnace and calculate the effect of changes in future operating conditions on tube aging.
H-SCAN® Technology Inspection includes all optimum techniques which will identify the true extent of damage, ULTRASONIC, EDDY CURRENT, WALL THICKNESS, and CREEP STRAIN (O.D. /I.D. measurement).
- An Integrated Sensor Array for Ultrasonic and Strain Measurement
- A Proprietary “Near Dry” Ultrasonic Sensor Array
- Laser Measurement of Outside Diameter
- Proprietary Eddy Current Array
Petromaster assesses the fitness for service of plant components and materials under operating conditions, which can confirm that a material or component is safe to use, and give advanced warning of in-service failures.
Large Stand-Off Magnetometry (MMM)
Petromaster is the sole service provider for this service in the GCC, which is based on the detection of the Self Magnetic Leakage Fields (SMLF), arising in ferromagnetic and paramagnetic products on accumulations of high-density dislocations to detect high-Stress Concentration Zones (SCZ’s).
This technology can be used on contact and non-contact bases to access ferromagnetic piping and pipeline external and internal conditions. It can be used on bare, insulated, and buried piping. This technology coupled with RBI can be used to optimally improve OSI select locations for further monitoring.
Phonon Diagnostic Technology (PDT)
The technology can be used on all types of static equipment & pipelines as well as structures to identify defects online, without interference in the production process. The accuracy and completeness of diagnostic results analysis, and the 3D-visualization of maps of defects allow for calculation of the strength and stability, residual life estimation, determination of further operation, and repair recommendations.
Ultra Analytics (FRP) Inspection System
UTComp’s UltraAnalytix™ (US Patented) inspection system ensures the safe performance and maximum lifespan of FRP assets, saving clients millions of dollars in replacement costs.
The system will give you objective information that you will be able to track over time and you can know years before you need to repair or replace your assets. No other testing system is able to provide this information. UltraAnalyti x™ can be used in a variety of fiberglass assets – regardless of shape and size. It can also be used while the equipment is operating and limits confined space entry.
Steel Wire Rope Flaw Detector _ INTORS
Steel wire rope flaw detector INTROS enables simultaneously accurate measurement of loss of metallic area (LMA) and detection of outer and inner localized flaws (LF), such as broken wires, strands, and pitting corrosion. INTROS inspects the rope at a speed of up to 4 m/s and can be used during rope production or operation.
INTROS is widely used to inspect ropes at underground and surface mining, cranes and heavy lifting onshore and offshore, cable ways, cable bridges, elevators, guy ropes of flare stacks and masts, overhead transmission lines, etc.
The operation of the instrument is based on the magnetic flux leakage (MFL) principle, so the instrument uses strong permanent magnets to magnetically saturate the rope under inspection. Only in case of magnetic saturation, it is possible to obtain high accuracy and sensitivity of the instrument.
The INTROS kit comprises a Magnetic head, Basic unit, and software Wintros. The in-house developed software Wintros is a powerful means for downloading and analysis of rope inspection data. Software Wintros RTV for online indication of traces, which is very convenient for some specific applications.
