Steel Wire Rope Inspection Services

Petromaster provides advanced steel wire rope inspection services using electromagnetic wire rope testing technology to identify internal and external defects that may compromise the safety and reliability of lifting systems.

Our steel wire rope flaw detection capability uses the Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) principle to inspect ropes for both Loss of Metallic Area (LMA) and Localized Flaws (LF). This allows us to detect defects that may not be visible during conventional visual inspection.

Electromagnetic Wire Rope Testing

During inspection, strong permanent magnets magnetically saturate the steel wire rope. When defects or changes in the metallic cross-section occur, they create disturbances in the magnetic field. These changes are detected and analyzed to identify potential rope deterioration.

The inspection can simultaneously identify:

Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) Technology

Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) is a highly effective electromagnetic inspection technique for assessing the condition of ferromagnetic steel wire ropes.

The rope is magnetically saturated using strong permanent magnets. Defects such as broken wires, corrosion, and loss of metallic cross-sectional area disturb the magnetic field. These changes are captured by the inspection system and analyzed to determine the location and severity of potential rope defects.

Advanced Data Acquisition & Analysis

The inspection system includes a magnetic inspection head, basic acquisition unit, and dedicated analysis software for recording and evaluating wire rope inspection data.

The inspection data can be reviewed to identify significant indications and establish a clearer understanding of the rope's condition. Online trace monitoring can also be used for applications where real-time indication of inspection signals is required.
